Last night, I discovered writing playlists created by other writers on YouTube. Then, I switched to party music before some random channels started playing and my catlike eyes lifted up to the screen when some soft bamboo music started to play. My body relaxed as I watch the snow up from the ground and toward the sky in the foreground of the Chinese painting. This was a world that mesmerized me by defying gravity.
When was the last time that your words defied gravity and you lifted you up and out of your seat in excitement. It’s been a while for me, and that’s one of the many reasons I wanted to start reading more books this year. I also loaded my Audible with a few new best sellers for longer drives during the week. It’s been full force for the last week and my body is tired.
Last night, I also spent hours designer a book cover for my two new authors. You wouldn’t think it would take long but thank designers around the world. They spend hours on aligning text, and getting the right font until everything is perfect. Creating a book cover isn’t a five minute job. It’s hours and a lot of back and forth for approvals of proofs, changes to titles, and back and forth again.
I blew out a sigh as I sent the cover onward and crossed my fingers that this one will pass their approval. I won’t take any changes to heart because I’ve met other authors who don’t get to choose anything about their book cover at all. Publishers use this as a platform to market. Don’t expect must say if you go traditional.
My tired brain tried to relax but I found myself reading the blogs of some of my followers to see what they’re doing. I read some shorts and then thought about the one I posted in January 17th. If you click on my blog to find it, I made some updates after a few cringes. I found some edits of my own but the flow of the story fell out fingers with ease. I think I might keep going with this one and take from some previous attempts. I’ve set stories in different locations but always hit a wall and had to stop. Good thing my research for those other starts and stops can be used. My own advice comes in handy.
Over the next few months, I’ll see where this story leads me. It’s my turn work on a full length novel again. Hopefully, my first drafts have evolved from their previous versions because I’m still on the quest for “the one” just like the rest of you. I wish all of you good journey! I’m off to the pages again.
My posts are Monday through Friday.
