Summer Blues

I made through the past few years with a few minor illnesses and avoided the big one despite having to go in for testing 4 and now my 5th time. This is the one time I’m crossing my fingers to be negative about something. Regardless, I’m under the weather and my post is a little later today.

After my weekend event, my rooms look like a disaster and my to-do list is growing. I’m being tested again on being able to balance work, and well, more work. It seems like a decade has gone by and the empire I had in mind is still taking time to build. Little by little I keep plotting and plugging away at my business ideas while trying to keep my writing active.

This week my pause has forced me to look around me and see the many million dollar holes that I’ve dug, but I don’t feel anywhere near the bottom. Take my advice, if you want the writing dream then focusing on one goal and almost being obsessed with it, will get you there faster but I’ve had more than one interest, and more than one talent. In other words, I’m digging multiple holes at the same time.

My example is from another entrepreneur who found success by building a steady income online with her digital designs. Then, it snowballed into teaching courses and a growing YouTube channel. Everything cascades into each other. At least, that’s what the plan should like. I guess I need to work on following instructions better from those who’ve achieved what I want.

The reality is that opportunities will come along and your plans can change. The hard part is keeping everything going when no one is liking or buying your whatever you have to sell. Whether it’s books, or other things you love, you still need to put in the effort. There is no getting around it.

That’s why getting starting and even doing 5 minutes of something that will get you closer to what you want is a must. Don’t give up. Speaking of not giving up. I have to get back to work and grind on something else.

It’s light prompts this week before our holiday. Write for 5-10 minutes. Your words for this week should be from 4th of July. For example, use the word fireworks in your story.

My posts are Monday through Friday.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
