Late Nights

It’s normal to stay up until 3:00 in the morning to get ready for an event, right? My never ending show circuit is only beginning. My husband and I had our first spring event together in May. Everything wasn’t perfect but it was busy and that’s a good thing. It also happened to be on our first sunny, warm day after weeks of on and off again rain.

All of the artists behind the tables were caught up in the music, warmth, and large size crowds after a few years of too much quiet and little human contact. We chatted with several different people and we were running around trying to find packaging.

My husband finally put out his 3D printed creations and I loved seeing him happy as he was selling out of his larger home decor pieces that he designed. There’s something special about selling something that you created, whether it’s a book or an art piece. There’s excitement, pride, and appreciation that other people connect with something you made.

There is a crowd there for what you love. We all shop at the same places, and many of us love the same kinds of things. You just need to remember to put your work out there. Take the risk. Stay encouraged on the days when you don’t get any sales, and then remember to keep improving even if you make sales. Always work on making your stories or art better.

Looking at the evolution of writers from their first book, their first drafts, to finished pieces you wonder how they got to the end point. Often, it looks nothing like the first draft but we need those first words to get to the final piece. Getting started is one way to become your idea of success. Just keep tweaking as you go along your journey.

No topic today. Just write for 5-10 minutes on your current piece, or start one.

My posts are Monday through Friday.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
