My intentions at the start of this week were to be as productive with my time, as every week is but my writer mind get distracted by other people’s stories. Having enough time to read new authors and write, mixed in with other interests makes daily choices difficult. At the start of each day I ask, do I want to read, write, create art, or do I need a nap from everything because I’m human?
There are moments that propel me through the day when I feel like Superwoman. I actually believe that I can do it all, and some days I do everything above in one day. My real schedule is go, go, go and then I break with Netflix binges and Kdramas. Trying not to get too down on myself for not flying at full speed in my cape at all hours is hard.
Today’s videos make us feel like we should have millions of followers overnight, and we should all be 6-7 figure business owners. There’s tons of advice out there and after trying several, I’ve learned it’s best to follow a speed that keeps me healthier and to find out what advice works best for me. The times when I tried to seek what other people were selling, or write what I thought was trending just lead me in the wrong direction.
Finding our own way as a writer, a business owner, takes time. I think the point is to keep going and stop stressing because we didn’t sell a million books overnight. Most of people who had a video go viral, tried several before one took off and it wasn’t the one they thought would gain them the most followers. They also put thought and effort into trying and trying again, and they didn’t give up.
We need to get real with ourselves because most of us aren’t going to be the lucky lottery winners. And there’s something I need to say, those who are lucky still end up working to grow their followers or business in a whole new way.
So, how can we survive the pressure of trends, and what we think is “happy”? 1. Find out what works for you. 2. Don’t give up until you find it. 3. Never give up on your dreams. 4. Keep working toward what you want. Think if we call did this and how it would look on a dating site? You might actually be closer to someone who has their sh*** together and an adult.
Your only prompt for today is to write in your own genre for 10-15 minutes.
