Book Review Update

Have you found your quiet alley yet? Or, wandered through some unknown city? I’m trying by reading a new book but the style wasn’t what I expected. I wanted the poetry of Paris. Yes, the sappy read with a glass a wine and maybe a little romance. The recommended read did make me laugh a few times but I feel my attention drifting away from the story because the introduction didn’t start out with what I call the money shot of the literary world.

Adam Gopnik, forgive me.

He started out with a description of a painting and once he mentioned Henry James, I almost fell asleep. Readers I’ve tried but I don’t like spending my time inside someone head’s all day with no action, or no really connection unless the novel is clearly marked as a diary. At least, there’s a few sparks of humor and great literary references in side that I jotted down for my own resource library.

Then, I was interrupted by my husband’s search for his watch so that he track his workouts right in the middle of my daily blogging. You know what I called him? “A weird dog.” He’s probably heard me mention other phrases that only a writer could string together. Isn’t he lucky?

I apologize for the interruption but that’s how I felt about the beginning of my read, Paris to the Moon. A bought of laughter and then back inside Adam’s head. I will keep my promise to myself to finish this novel because it’s on my list, but I’m still waiting for my poetry by the Seine. I’ll keep you posted on the progress this week, and hopefully my husband won’t end up in another because he dared to open the door right in the middle of something important.

I know every writer has been there with me. Don’t feel sorry for him. He knows better by now. Share or comment if you want! I’ve enjoyed reading some this past week!

My posts are Monday through Friday.
