Traveling the World Through Books

My list of books is growing for 2022. I decided that my first books of the new year are going to help me travel the world through words, since many borders that I want to cross are closed. My fingers just pressed the buy button and a new book by, David Damrosch. I’m about to embark in a literary tour around the world through 80 classic and modern works from around the world.

The next book on my reading list is going to be, Around the World in 80 books. In creating this blog, I want to help other writers build their resources and references. The way we do this together is to read our fellow authors and build up our libraries of good reads. You can join me in reading my next book, or find one in your own genre. This is your only homework for this week.

I used to think that reading other writers while I’m writing my own novel would change, or sway my writing style. But reading other authors whether I’m working on a piece or taking a break, I find out what I like. As I read, I take notes on how I would rewrite openings, not as criticism but a recreation in my own words. My highlighter and the margins get a workout as I note words that moved me.

Don’t worry, as I turn the pages of my next read I’ll share all the good crumbs. My in the next selection is to find more books to add to my list for this year. Hopefully, I’ll be able to recommend a few that will inspire and encourage you to keep those pens moving.

Finally, I’m one step closer to hitting the publish button again for myself. I just finished choosing the cover for my next journal that I worked on in 2021. And yes, it is similar to my Writer’s Journal (link below) but this one is more about action and gratitude. The title explains it all – Imagine, Create, Inspire: 52 weeks of action and gratitude will be published soon. Don’t worry, the self plugs will continue in future posts.

Until the next page! My posts are Monday through Friday.

Get closer to your writing goals with my Writer’s Journal filled with writing prompts and exercises. You can find a copy at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0931QRL7C/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_VTHN0QSHXRYK6RJ1XSWQ.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
