Hold on everybody, another plate is going onto a spinner. I’m going to be a featured artist at The Art Shoppe in Minneapolis! I’m two weeks away from showing my artwork and having wall space in July and August. What’s one more deadline added into my schedule? Good thing I stayed up late last week a few nights to get another round of deep editing completed.
Some of the creatures I dreamed up on paper are going to be shaped into real 3D form through clay miniatures. Image metallic dusted dragons and fantasy houses sculpted with needle tools and then baked in a small oven. My literary imagination takes real form through my art collections and my writing prompts of characters come to life. Maybe this is why artists and writers have always come together. Both are shaping imagination and fantasy.
One struggle I face whenever I put my work out there is imposter syndrome. Does my fear or anxiety stop me? No, I still it because I’ll never grow if I don’t do it. When I looked back pieces I’ve created 10 years ago and now, the difference is huge. I never would have reached this point without putting my work on display. I’ve met other artists and writers who’ve right before me as the years went on, and you know – you’re always going to find someone more talented that yourself so stop using that as an excuse.
The better thing to do is to encourage grown in our fellow creators. Our real job is to inspire each other. My blogging will continue as I made through each deadline. I’ll share any mishaps, redos, and triumphs along the way. And maybe I’ll have another publishing day as the end of the month approaches. I’m just a few short of 52 weeks of inspiration ideas for my next journal. This one is about creating, inspiring, and sharing gratitude.
Until tomorrow.
