Minnesota Summer

The temperatures have been in the upper 80’s to the lower 90’s for the past week and I feel like I moved south for the summer. The winds might not smell like salt but a sheen of sweat still covers my skin if I’m outside moving around for more than 5 minutes.

Hot and humid is something that’s supposed to happen in August not the beginning of June but I guess I shouldn’t complain because of winter up here. The quieter rush hours during the week make me wonder if where everyone went. Maybe they decided to stay another week at the cabin. I can’t blame them for wanting to escape.

The heat blasting up from concrete, noisy traffic, and rushing around the city can be a bit much. I think I left part of my mind at my parents farm last week. Summer is supposed to be a slow down in the sun, not endless hours at the office.

I’m supposed to be typing next to a window with the view of the lake, not fire engines with their sirens on or a parking lot. I guess I’m just going to have to go on a few road trips for a change in scenery. I’ll get my fill of socializing at outdoor craft and art fairs too.

There’s only 3 months of warm sun up here so I better enjoy it like a Minnesotan. I feel a few sweaty days coming on. Don’t be surprised if my next prompts have to do with being outside.

In fact, your next prompt is to take a quiet walk outside and then write about it for 5-10 minutes.

My summer mode is on but I will continue to post a few times a week.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
