Snow Days!

I survived the smaller amount of snow that started falling Wednesday evening and overnight. My groceries are picked up for the next few days and I continue to peak outside. The snow started falling in my neighborhood around 2:00 pm again. Emergency plans are in place and we all keep waiting up here for the next biggest winter storm.

To be honest, looking outside it feels a bit anti-climatic but I’m not for breaking winter records up here. After watching the extreme on the east coast, I’m all for staying subtle and having less than expected snow falls. Not being the tallest person in the world I want to measure snowfall by my height. Having snow banks taller than myself without plowing is something that’s not common in the cities.

I would feel like a I entered one of my miniature worlds. I feel torn like many other Minnesotans up here. On one hand, I want enough weather to force all employers to close for the day so that no one has to risk going into work because they work at a mall, or downtown business. Having fewer people on the roads would help prevent more accidents. Some employers made that decision for those who work for them but some are still “leaving it open”.

A be careful, but come in if you can is not being considerate of the people you employ. In my opinion, if you’re in the life saving business you should order a closure because one day on the road in this case can result in a life threatening emergency or accident.

Well, my opinion is out and having been in this situation multiple times my mind doesn’t change. There’s been many times when I had close calls because I had to go into work. I guess this means that I need to work on my passions harder so that I can improve my financial situation and build up my own self-employed empire.

This storm just more motivation to switch my grind or financial focus over the next few years. The build is always slower than I want but it continues to move in the right direction. My goal is to get away from commissions, another 9-5 type job, and the building of my own platforms. I want to have more than enough after medical and dental insurance because my expenses are more than the average person.

Plan in place and in action, I’ve been building up my channels and keeping my fingers crossed that the next disaster or event doesn’t alter anything too much. Then, the plan moves into saving as much as possible so that I have some nuts buried for a rainy day or emergency.

Let’s home that Steven Pressfield can help me come with more ways to keep me on track, or fast track some of the goals I’m working toward. What are you working on this year?

One good thing about storms of the century, is that I get a day to work on writing and art for a few more hours without the distraction of going out. I’ll do my best not to spend all day cleaning instead of getting something done on my goal list.

I’ll let you know how I dig out of this fluffy white stuff tomorrow! My posts are Monday to Friday.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
