Holiday Escape

There’s a only a few days before Christmas is finally here and Minnesota truly is a frozen tundra. This year holiday, I’m thankful for buying that oversized, puffy pink coat that was a little more expensive because I’m as warm as Eskimo in an igloo. I’m waddling around like a pink penguin, warm and happy right now.

This week I’ve also drowned myself in all things Paris. The new season of “Emily in Paris” is being binged on Netflix, and I was forced to pull out my macarons while sitting on my sofa. My counter is filled with wine, some are gifts and some are mine.

Most importantly, I have a new book playing from Audible while I get a few things done. I’m listening to The Only Street in Paris: Life on the Rue Des Martyrs by Elaine Sciolino. Maybe I need to pretend that I’m having a conversation with a few famous writers, like Hemingway, at one of the local cafe’s. I can have my own “Midnight in Paris”.

If you need your distance from all the gatherings and need some quiet time, maybe it’s time your writer’s mind escaped to another world or another place. Use one of my go-to prompts and pretend your wandering the streets of a city outside yourself. Discover a new world and all the funny little habits that foreigners slowly uncover the longer they linger.

As for myself, I’m going to go back to my Parisian world while my husband rolls his eyes at me again because he never knows what kind of world is going to happen inside our home when I’m writing. At least, he benefits from my explorations. He doesn’t seem to mind the pastries or food experiences I pick up along the way. So far, his palette has been taken all over the world because I wanted it for my writing.

Happy escaping this holiday season! May your inner writer come out.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
