Last night my life turned into a TikTok because of an update on Etsy. All that was required was an update to my seller information and an update to my bank account. I thought this was only going to take 15 minutes but I was locked out of my frozen account. Nothing was going in and nothing was coming out.
Frustration fell out of my mouth and my husband was a witness to my mini tantrum. I entered in my information exactly as my papers read and as exactly as my accounts read but I continued to get an invalid information until I was locked out for too many attempts.
I’ve seen the frustration from other sellers and I never thought a quick update would be so difficult. In order to get out my anger issues I had to blog about this life experience because it’s blocking out any other words in my mind other than creator explicatives.
I’m starting to lean in the direction of all the sellers who let out their feelings online because of a platform that takes a percentage of their sales. I get why they’re doing a verification but if I’m typing in the exact information on my paperwork and that I had in there before, then why isn’t it working? The need to re-enter my bank account information when they just paid me 2 days ago from sales, only to see a message saying that my bank account information is also wrong only added to my venting.
I’ll manage to get over this but it had to come out. Not being able to sell because of a suspended account is a little concerning to a small business owner. Words of advice to other writers and creators, this is one of the reasons I sell on multiple platforms. I guess it’s time to promote my other website.
The prompt for today is to keep working on your platforms, and that is plural. Even if you’re on Amazon, you can always sell copies of your book on your own website by going one step further. Offer to sell a signed and personalized copy of your book.
My posts are Monday through Friday.
