Pastry Run

Have you ever been woken up by being licked in the face by something warm and furry early in the morning? Well, I don’t have that. I have a husband. Why he suddenly decided that making an early morning pastry run at 7:30 on the day I like to sleep in was a good idea, I’ll never know.

But I did tell him once that I am willing to get up early for pastries, and apparently he believed me. So I found myself showered, dressed, and thinking of giant sized pastries. I gripped the wheel tighter and took the turns like a race car driver because they run out of croissants if you wait until too late in the morning.

Luckily, I have a knack for getting to places before the crowd arrives. Sure enough the line formed behind me again, and I secured my croissants. My full belly started to close my eyes as I sat down again at my keyboard. Sitting inside on a cloudy day watching season 2 of the Winx Saga and I’m expecting a fairy to fly out of my keyboard at any minute.

Is it cheesy that I imagine sitting in a writing room with the series writers trying to figure out the next plot twist? Our fantasies as writers include the characters of our stories but are more behind the scenes in the non-glamorous trailers or rooms. Then, we say a few prayers that the actors can act out our words they way we intended.

I watch Netflix cheering at the lines that I wished I put on paper, and cringe because I could have done better. I don’t know if any of you go through the same thing when you’re watching a movie or TV series but being a creator behind the scenes changes your perspective on things.

Well, I’m off to my other worlds this weekend to home in on some of my own magic. There’s fairies, Halloween, and creatures of all kinds coming out of my keyboard and my clay baking oven.

My posts are Monday through Friday.
