T-Rex Hands

My tables and desks are piles of polymer clay, resin molds, and jewelry making tools. I think my hands are going to look like a curled T-Rex by the end of the summer. I guess I won’t have to go rock climbing to get the dexterity and grip of an athlete. No, my summer is going to be filled with hot and humid days of sweating in the sun under my vendor tent. Either it needs to rain gold, or I might have to put on a funny outfit to attract people in.

I’ve been talking with other people in business about gorilla marketing and attention tactics. There really was a guy in England who ran along side a bike race during a news feed to gain the attention of the media, and it worked. He took gorilla marketing literally and it paid off. I remember when the sign spinners in New York were making the media circuit because their people went all out when they were standing on the sidewalk. Some busted out dance moves, or Broadway during their day job, and both the business and the sign spinners made a lot of money.

How does this apply to writing? Well, if you couldn’t tell, I’ve been talking about the topic that many of us dread as writers. We love the creative part but don’t like the selling part. It’s the same for many artists. But none of us complain when the money is rolling in. The problem is that we need to sell what we create. Sometimes we need to get creative an gorilla market in our social media. But there’s nothing wrong with the old fashion way of setting up a table in your yard and sneak in your own books.

On TikTok authors tell go into saying their back cover out loud and no one realizes it’s about their book until the end. Some act out their scenes. Continuing from yesterday, we’re going to look up ways to share our writing. Check out YouTube channels, TikToks, and facebook posts. There’s a way to take trends and make then your own. Your prompt for today is to research for 10-15 minutes.

My posts are Monday through Friday.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
