The day before an event is here and I will be running around in circles trying to pack, make last minute pieces, and repack 10 times before I forget something have to do it all over again. My rules is to have as much crammed into my tubs as possible so that I have to dig through everything when I get to the set-up space. Time and time again has made me a more efficient packer but it still gets messy and confusing every time. I’ve learned to just go with it.
I mutter to myself say, “I can make one more thing. I have time.” In reality, it’s coming down to the wire.
I had printer woes for a few days as I tried to get my greeting cards formatted to a new template and have the color look vivid on matte paper. Color adjusting left me with a pile of prints that I may have to use for other projects. Not to mention the ones that I placed upside down and had to fix. Try, try, and try again was all did late into the night.
There were times when I wanted to cry and times when I jumped for joy because it finally came out the way I intended. There’s a lot of ups and downs when it comes to creating stories and art.
My husband has a cutoff time for his last minutes but me, I like to walk around in a zombie like mode the next day because I woke up in the middle of the night about something I forgot to do. I might drift off at my table only to wake up and put on a smile for the next person that stops in.
With all the challenges in my head, wonder if I could get my husband to wear a mascot costume and run around. I could take advantage of some stereotypes and make him run around in a banana costume, or maybe something to match my miniature food creations – a hot dog or donut. I could even make it pink to make him the most uncomfortable.
All I can say is that when the pressure’s on, a writer can make anything reality. In the fall, Halloween costumes are normal. Right? Hmmm.
If this does happen, I will be going live because no one would believe it. My husband tends to be more conservative and those TikToks where one partner is crazy – yeah, I’m the crazy one.
My posts are Monday through Friday.
