Minnesota Life

The first of the month is here and I can finally bear the midwest humidity a little bit more because I have air conditioning again in my car. No more melting makeup or skin stuck to the seat as sweat drips down my back. I can breathe easier in cool, fresh air without bugs flying in through the window.

This is Minnesota and I prefer to see bug guts on my windshield than in my mouth. If you can’t tell, I’m more of an indoor person who orders room service than goes camping in the wild without showers or you guessed it – air conditioning. Yes, I’ve gone camping since I was little but it wasn’t in a tent. I was spoiled growing up because my parents owned an RV by the time I arrived. Waking up with a soggy sleeping bag from a late night rain shower isn’t something I want to share in.

The off and on showers this weekend changed our plans for the campfire and s’mores but I didn’t need any sweets added my waistline. Family gatherings always include enough food and new sweet treats. Can you tell that my mind is still on the long weekend?

I think I need another day off from my work schedule but there’s this thing called bills and living expenses. I guess I’ll have to put my pen to paper again and keep my dreams in mind. Continuing with the theme of this week, have you done a random act of kindness?

There’s still time. Things I’ve added into my yearly goals is supporting small businesses when I can, doing random acts of kindness, and helping someone else get closer to their goal. My past projects were selected with them in mind, so that it’s not all about me.

Pause today and evaluate your mid-year progress. Write it down and then add in some goals that include more than your ambitions. Take 5-10 minutes for your prompt today.

My posts are Monday through Friday.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
