Event Prep Week

Over the weekend, my nervousness and excitement grew because of all the preparations for this Saturday’s Outdoor Even and my online store relaunch. Just like the build-up before hitting the publishing button I feel the fatigue from all the extra hours but it’s a good feeling because I’ve been productive. I’ve also been trying to do something with my own slush pile in the studio.

You know all those grand plans to pump out more books? Well, the dream is still alive too. I have a list of additional children’s books and more adult novels. Little-by-little the pile is going down, and I know that writing every day will work because I tracked my blogging word count. I can reach at least 37,000 words, which would be the longer length novel that I want to finish this year.

I don’t know if anyone else has the creative struggle that I do but as soon as I start working with one medium, the other starts to call out to me because it’s being neglected. I started creating more handmade miniatures to get ready for a store relaunch and my first outdoor spring event, and because I turned off the writing muse – they decided keep reminding of the novel I started last year.

My main character is still in the living room and train station in Paris getting ready to retrace the steps of her Korean grandmother. I see them frozen in place in the back of my mind, holding their poses that I left them in on the page. I feel like a more cruel creator of squid game because I left them holding their pose for days in the school yard. Their muscles must be aching and itching for the music to begin again.

Just 5 minutes a day, one page. I need to follow my prompt exercises with laser precision and my book will be finished with that anticlimactic feeling because I didn’t realize I was that close to being finished. If my pen sputters and spurts along the way, at least it will be done consistently, and that word is the magic of writing a novel.

Stay consistent out there during your writing journey, and the publishing button will come into view. I’m off to play the writing music for a few minutes.

My posts are Monday through Friday.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
