Growing Pains

I know a few people who had the Monday’s around me and I tried not to let it become too contagious but some people have trouble turning the corner into a new year. Everyone deals with change differently. Instead of staring at 2022 with and feeling overwhelmed, I started to ask other people what they wanted to do this year. I asked a few career related questions, and some answered that they didn’t know – and that’s okay. We’re all at different points in our life but after speaking with a few people, and interviewing people this past year, I had a lot of the same answer.

Did the our health concerns change our perspective on asking ourselves what we really want in life? Maybe it made people really start to ponder that they want to do in 5 or 10 years. I’ve always believed that the few who know exactly what they want and don’t change their mind have been given a gift that the majority of us don’t have. At the start of this year, I feel like I’m about to embark on a new beginning but I don’t know exactly what that means.

Those who follow my TikTok might say this is evident because most of my posts are more about lifestyle, travel, and foodie follows. There are few posts about writing and I feel like I meandered away from my tagline. I teeter on the edge of the creative arts and writing by then line is more like a squiggle instead of straight line drawn in the sand. Hmmm. Maybe this is one of goals for 2022 – I need to remember to record when I’m reading something interesting or working on my writing projects before, not after I’m done.

What makes so many of us indecisive on this question? Ask your friends of all ages and most will say they still don’t know. How can we figure this out? Well, I think most of us want to be happy and be able to pay the bills. Maybe the question is more simple. How can we make a living and not go insane or feel stressed out at the end of the day? How do I begin to figure this out?

Well, I’m a list maker. This week I’m going to write out my list of crazy wants and more attainable wants, then I’m going to list out ways to get there. In fact, this is your only writing prompt for this week. Keep writing down what you want, and the key part is to list out how to get what you want that doesn’t involve harming humans or animals, or going to jail.

After our list and ways to get there, we’ll have a starting point for this year. Share your thoughts, hope that my response button works this time. I did enjoy some of your comments and replies last year. Thank you!

My posts are Monday through Friday.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
