Get Counting

This weekend I filled up on Turkey too many times and I think I might go on an exercise binge to balance out the calories before our next holiday. The rest of the long weekend was filled with more family time and one trip to a store for a few Black Friday deals. My time at a store to try to fit a new purchase in my small 4 door car was one worthy of a comedy.

The winded whipped around us as we tried to twist, turn, and unbox an electronic upgrade but there was no getting around it. Our attempt at Tetris failed and we had to drive back from the store to borrow my parents SUV to bring back our deal that had us so excited that we didn’t ask, “will this fit in the car?” Luckily, my parents drove us a little further than the fundraiser they planned on attending the next day.

I couldn’t tell if mom was annoyed but I can hear her telling my brother and sister about how they had to drive our purchase back into town. However, I should point out that we filled my dad’s gas tank before we returned home and that’s not cheap these days.

When we got home, we stood up the box and it was a few inches taller than me. I guess we’ll remember to ask if this will fit in our car next time. At least, we made it home with everything in tact.

Lately, I’ve been feeling a little down because my entrance into a few challenges haven’t gone as planned this half of the year. I’ve kept up my blog but my month for writing my novel has turned into editing other people’s words instead of my own. I’ve finished two books for other people that were over 200 pages.

Still there’s no excuse since July, I’ve made myself too busy. Trying to keep a blog, a handmade business, additional shows, and full time editing jobs left me little time for my own novel. I managed to publish 3 journals this year but I’m still short on my overall list of goals.

While I may not of had very much time for my novel, I still encourage everyone out there to keep going. I’m still busy finishing an over 200 page editing job but you still have two more days of NaNoWriMo. Those who follow me, you’ll have to give me some slack for not reaching my word count goal because I’ve been busy. Don’t worry I’ll continue to follow my own prompts and keep writing. It just might have to be in the form of a blog. This blog does prove that if you write every day, you can have a novel by the end of the year because I’ve just reached 394 posts. That’s 394 pages. So, get counting somewhere.

My posts are Monday through Friday. Get registered at https://nanowrimo.org.

I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
