Two Muses

The last day of September is here and I have piles of papers, clay, and glitter all over my desk.  My two muses have been busy at the beginning of the school year.  I don’t miss having certain kinds of homework anymore but sometimes I feel like I’m still in the classroom.  There’s always something new to learn, or figure out when it comes to writing my next novel or figuring out how to keep my clay sculptures from melting too much in the oven.

I know there are days when we want to stop adulting but in many ways we have the freedom that age brings.  We more power to decide what we want to learn in our own time, and we don’t have to waste time in classes that don’t interest us.  Yet, there is something about our imagination when we’re younger that I wished we didn’t let go as we age.  We believe anything is possible, then as adults we let other people talk us out of it.  We talk other people out of their dreams.  How sad is that?

My only wish for everyone as we move into a new month is to support your fellow creatives in whatever they do.  Yes, even if their work “sucks”.  Stop letting those negative thoughts talk you out of your dream.  Better yet, have a dream for yourself.  How many times do I hear other people at work (places I call adult daycares) give up and settle for a 9 to 5 mentality?  Adulting is never easy but don’t give up.

I wish they had pajama days at work or nap time. If you really want those things, then get writing or doing something to be your own boss.  Having worked for other entrepreneurs and trying different business opportunities it’s never going to be easy in the beginning but keep trying.  Forget the fear of failure. In fact, to reach your goal you might need to do it more often.  Do it fast and  Fail often and then find your thing.

Preptober begins tomorrow!!!  We’ll get our stories ready together!  My posts are Monday through Friday.

Get closer to your writing goals with my Writer’s Journal filled with writing prompts and exercises. You can find a copy at https://www.amazon.com/Writers-Journal-Writing-Prompts-Notes/dp/B0931QRL7C.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
