Back to the Pen

My fingers were itching because I missed some time at my keyboard last week. Part of me sent off a warning to keep up my regular schedule of writing. Having writer’s block in the past haunts me, and that might be a good thing because it helps me sit down in the chair to write again.

The familiar feeling of the tapping on keys and the touch of a pen have been imprinted on my brain. Going too many days without the spilling over of words, leaves me feeling like part of myself is missing. During the days without getting in my daily words, even if it’s a life update, I felt like I lost part of identity.

I was letting the characters I built up over the years die without an explanation. I couldn’t let them fade away without letting their story be told. It’s amazing how fictional characters can feel so real. Guilt washes over me every time I feel them waiting in the shadows for the publish button.

I’m hoping the transformation of the summer will give me more time finally get them out into the world. Working too many jobs has left me drained of time and energy.

Trying to stay on track with my writing, I thought I would start out the week with another prompt. Since summer started, I think we should have a summer prompt. How about a day at the lake? Create a space for yourself at the lake and write for 5-10 minutes. Remember, it doesn’t have to be in this world. You could put yourself in a fantasy world.

My summer mode posts will continue a few times a week! Until the next post!

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
