A Writer’s Life

The last few days of the month are here already and things are ramping up in my studio. I spent all weekend making a miniature dragon, a seal, and some new earrings to get ready for our first show of the year. As I create and inch closer to my goals this year, I continue to ask myself when I can squeeze in my writing?

Due to a tight schedule, I can never stress the importance of the spending the last few years building up the habit of a writing schedule. Yes, my posts may vary but I’m still doing something Monday to Friday, like a job. Writing is a full time job for those who take it seriously.

Now, I don’t mind if I stress a little about missing a post because staring at a blank screen was my reoccurring nightmare. Being able to take a few words from a prompt and write on a random topic is an accomplishment to me. Those words are the oil I need to get the wheel going.

At the end of the day, the point is that I tried, and kept trying even if my words look like dribble. Typing this post, I’m smiling inside because I know the answer to my question above. The only way to get in my writing is just to do it.

You know what that means in writing terms! My house is about to get the cleanest it’s ever been! Every writer can laugh with me. Then, I’ll drag my butt to the chair to get in what I’ve been avoiding, and just get it done. You’ll hear me mutter to myself, “A dream is a only a dream without action.”

I’ll leave you to your own writing until tomorrow! Most posts are Monday through Friday!

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
