Preptober Begins: Day #1

The first day of October is here and the goal of this month is to get your novel ready for NaNoWriMo, the month where writers all over the world try to reach 50,000 words by the end of the month. Having taken classes from other writers with the same goal of writing a book in 30 days, I know it’s possible. Your draft might need some love but getting in that many words can be done.

Together, we are going to plan, plot, and take the steps necessary to complete your novel next month in 31 days. Every day of October will take you day-by-day through the necessary steps of building a novel so that the final number doesn’t look so daunting. Doing all the prep work in daily bite size exercises will make next month much easier to get through.

We will turn those pages one at a time together. Since today is Day #1, your only exercise is to begin prepping. Gather your supplies, set your desk, clean if necessary and start thinking about the book you want to finish next month. Do what you need to do so that you aren’t interrupted by excuses in the next few days. This means running around to find your perfect pen, the right paper, or those dishes that need to be cleaned. Get everything done so that you’ll stay in your chair for a few hours tomorrow.

I know my steps might feel like baby steps but that’s the point. I like to set goals that are manageable and can be accomplished in one day. Starting thinking about the books that you’ve wanted to write or thought about writing today.

My posts are Monday through Friday.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
