Pumpkin Time

I almost played hooky today and took my fingers off the keyboard today but there’s nothing wrong with a Cinderella post. The clock hasn’t struck midnight and maybe there’s a little magic left before my horses turn back into mice. My favorite is still the fat mouse.

While I wait for my ride to turn back into a pumpkin, I’ve picked up my own glass slipper because there’s no time to wait for Prince Charming to come find me. As a writer, I could turn myself into the prince or the maiden who rescues the prince.

Writers have the freedom to go what is views as traditional, or we could break the rules. If you read the best sellers, you’ll understand that audiences don’t connect to grammar. They connect to the pulse of your story even if you break all the rules.

I could follow the trends, like many publishing houses that request similar tropes form their troop of writers but we all dream of building our own audience instead of sucking in the exhaust of demanding popularity. Yes, we suffer collecting dust until someone with a wand determines us content worthy.

I still do the little dance, like a fat little mouse when I get a sold notification from one of my books and I hope the feeling never wears off.

Sitting in the dark with my playlist going, I my mind is hungry again for another book. I’ve spent the last year publishing journals to help other writers with the creative process. Now, it’s time to get to the next point and I ask myself if I’m ready because I know it will consume all of me.

Do I go fantasy world or return to the frozen train station in Paris? There’s only one way to tell, and that’s just to begin typing until my fingers figure it out. So it’s try, try, and try again before midnight only to start the process over again.

As I try to figure out the direction of my next novel, you’ll have to bear with me as posts change again. Hopefully, I can help you in your own process. I’m thinking about a rough outline as a goal for this week.

My posts are Monday through Friday.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
