Did you have a steamy night at the keyboard last night during your writing prompt? I hope you did. If not, there’s time to set those pages on fire this weekend. Still not inspired? Then, take yourself or a significant other on a date. That’s what I’ll being doing. My husband and I are celebrating 13 years together.
I’m sitting here thinking about how quickly time passes, and my mind is going with a few questions. What did we get through on our wish list together? What else will bring us more memorable moments together? I guess we’ll start with a nice dinner.
In this world, staying together for this long is a miracle because I know the universe has tested us along the way. There’s times when I felt the dark forces were trying everything to tear us apart but we managed to hang on together. The fact that I still look forward to seeing my husband at home after work is an accomplishment. It’s more than just being used to each other’s company. It’s about needing there to hug me.
After this many years, I’d rather have fights and disagree than not have him there at all. My hope as we clink our glasses together this weekend and celebrate, that we continue to inspire each other and help each other’s dreams come true. Don’t forget the part where you turn to your partner and ask them what they want out of life. What do they dream about? I just did this on a car ride because it can’t all be about me.
The princess crown that I have sitting at home tells me that I should carry a butler bell around but – and I say this with a heavy heart – other people do exist out there with their own dreams. Being in a relationship means asking the other person about their desires. Take notes and add this into your novels. Book characters never forget the little things unless you’ve made them an a – -hole.
Become a real life character who cares, and find someone who can dream with you.
My posts are Monday through Friday.
