The middle of the week is here and I’m thinking about my sleepless in Minnesota week. Looking back, I guess I can’t complain because my sleepless hours let me get a lot of work done. My up in the middle of the night with the moon as my company helped me finish some art pieces. Did I mention my blog?
The ebb and flow of blogging is like a river with fast and slow currents, and a several rapids. There’s times when I’m ahead, and there’s time when I’m writing in the middle of the night to get my thoughts on paper. I’ve pushed myself to keep blogging because it’s become my writing prompt over the past year. I don’t know If I would have finished the journal series, or put myself back on track without it.
Getting the firing of my synapses going has oiled my gray matter so consistently that I can’t seem to stop. I’ve learned the importance of writing every day because one thought lead to another. All those sparks keep me in motion. I advise other writers to keep up on their journals or writing exercises daily after looking at the results. Even if you end up writing nonsense, it’s keeping your fingers oiled. Somethings going to come out eventually.
So, if you ever find yourself sleepless in your State, don’t worry. There’s plenty that you didn’t get done while you were sleeping before. And you’re not alone. Take comfort in the many who wander aimlessly in the middle of the night. Maybe you can turn it into a vampire novel. Or, maybe you can understand the behavior of cats better.
I’m thinking I needed to tire myself out more, or empty my brain of all my thoughts before they would let me sleep. I guess I better get out my next novel so that I can go back to sleep. Try, try, and try again.
My posts are Monday through Friday.
