Last night I was snuggled under my blankets and rewatching an old Netflix series and I found my attention totally glued to the tv just like the first time. Have you ever had one of those moments when someone delivers a line of another writer and you stand up applauding? I’m envious of such a writer because his combination of words delivered by the right bad guy are still genius to my ears.
As I sat there and drank in every word again, flashes of past manuscripts started to form in my mind. Those kinds of lines could be mine, and may be mine through my piles of unpublished pages. All the more reason to get them out into the world.
My advice to other writers is find a good editor and then release those your novels into the world. Don’t wait. I can’t recall the exact source but it’s been said that the richest place in the world is in the graveyard, because that’s where all the unwritten books and ideas have gone to die.
Maybe I’m just giving myself a pep talk to get my next book published but that’s okay. That’s why I started this blog. Writers need to encourage themselves and others to get published. Speaking of inspiration my next read will be Adam Gopnik’s, Paris to the Moon. Hopefully, I’ll go on the same walks, see the same sights, and taste the same food. I might even fall in love the city of lights again.
Reading and hearing a good writer at the beginning of this year is all part of the plan. Your prompt for today is to find a favorite author and feed your mind again. Then, get working on your own novel.
My posts are Monday through Friday.
