Welcome September! This weekend means an extra day to get ready for my next show. I have to check my book inventory this week to see if I need to order more. My pen will be in hand with some new art pieces. Yes, my face will light up like other creators when you stop by my booth. Not because you’re a potential sale but because many of you ask questions or have an interest in doing the same thing. A sharing of ideas happen before we go our separate ways.
Being able to put your work out there for other people to see and critique takes bravery. Everyone has different taste, just like you. Don’t let negative people or comments get you down. Keep going with your journey. Can you imagine if some of the great writers or people who made the best seller list stopped before they reached a peace in their journey? If we all just stopped one day, our world would suffer from another kind of hunger. What we do entertains people, delights minds, and sparks new ideas. Creativity breeds creativity.
So be brave out there and get typing. Someone may need to escape the stress of reality, or feel inspired to change their life. Thinking about the new writers I’m helping, some people may need to connect or hear from other people who experienced loss to heal.
You’re a writer and you should be proud of what you do for a living. Stop treating it like “starving artist syndrome” because it’s like any profession. Sometimes, you need time to grow your skills to get the raise. Other times, you need to help people “discover” your work.
Get over hump day knowing you deserve the higher paying salary for what you do!
