The countdown was going all week and we’re one day away from the Minnesota State Fair! The crowds are waiting for the gates to open and my belly is fasting until I can fill it with all the fair food I can find. It’s a day of indulgence and the excuse of “walking the calories off” as we go from one food stand to the next. We might squeeze a few peeks of art exhibits and show buildings but why lie most of us go for the food.
Okay, I do have a plan while I walk around. I’ll be on the hunt for characters or people in costume that can fit into a short story. Yes, that’s the mind of a writer. Some stranger may never know that they’re going to end up in one of my posts but I want to do a piece related to fair. I’ll share the short if I find something interesting – and for those who follow – if I don’t find anything my exercises will take something ordinary and turn into a story anyway.
It’s my belief that writer’s should be able to write anywhere, and at anytime. We might not have Pulitzer Prize material but it’s our craft and we should be able to use at will. Oh – the power of our pen!
My question for you is how are you going to use it today? Write for 5-10 minutes in whatever genre you want. Share and let me know where we can read your work!
Writer’s who need help can take a look at my Writer’s Journal filled with writing prompts and exercises. You can find a copy at https://www.amazon.com/Writers-Journal-Writing-Prompts-Notes/dp/B0931QRL7C.
