Publishing Is About Process

My hands just went up into the air right before I started today’s blog. I let out a little congratulations because the last week of my inspirational journal for creatives is completed! Just like my 30 Days of Writing Prompt Journal, this is about action in motion to get inspired and achieve goals. Sometimes, we need more than gratitude to get ourselves into the right mindset.

Most of all many of us have dreams but lack a process to achieve what we want. We all want something but getting there is the hard part, and many us just let life happen. This past year I’ve been all about not waiting for inspiration. At the hardest times, I’ve used my writing prompts and other exercises to get back into the right mindset. The right mindset makes it easier to take action, and a process was born.

I used to hear other writer’s say, write every day but did I do it? No. I did it some days, or when I was “in the mood”. Over the last few years, I coached other entrepreneurs and authors but at the end of the day, I ran out of steam for myself. I knew that if I wanted to publish another book, I needed to develop a process to write even when I didn’t feel inspired. Being tired of watching other people who were passionate about their craft achieve milestones was also a motivator.

Being locked inside left me with the choices of watching YouTube all day, going stir crazy, or finally hunkering down and doing something on my goal list. Luckily, I chose doing something. Did I sit down and write immediately? No. I used my hours of YouTube to update my creative space. Thank you to those designers with channels and creative ways to redo spaces. I started with one corner and my mood changed. I felt inspired, and I wrote it down. Then, I kept writing and thought about how I could use this to keep writing. My 30 day writing challenge was born and so was my blog.

The best thing to come out of this is being able to share this process with other writers and artists. The other people I’m helping are plus one more book too. The feeling is contagious – so get writing out there and share!

Happy Friday!

My posts are Monday through Friday. You can find a copy of my new Writer’s Journal at https://www.amazon.com/Writers-Journal-Writing-Prompts-Notes/dp/B0931QRL7C.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
