Vacation Days

This week I decided to rest some more after working hard after a successful weekend at Geek Craft Expo. There were thousands of visitors that came to see all of the many talented creators and my husband and I were busy handling the rush.

He and I had the good, tired feel at the end of Saturday and Sunday and this event was one of most successful this year. I spent many nights up past midnight to have enough pieces because some sold out. Like many others there, I went home and had to create a few more pieces because my stock dwindled down too far.

Since we signed up for 2 more events in the next 3 weeks, I’m going to limit my blog posts down to a few days a week in order to bring up my inventory again. Don’t worry, my next rest period will include taking a break from my artwork to work on my writing again.

The flow of moving back and forth between the things I love has become a normal process. But no matter which medium I’m working the journey of building writing and art into a business has been easy. While TikToks are a few seconds, getting enough published and pieces created has taken years.

One thing you learn as you continue forward with your passions to become more patient. Processes always take longer than expected. Something will always get in the way but you just have to keep going. Your processes improve and you find the better ways to get comfortable with marketing yourself.

I would recommend going to other literary events or people who do what you want to do. If you keep going, you’ll get to know each other. Connections can take more than a few events but being around other people who feel the pains and triumphs of what you do makes a huge difference.

We’ve all been through the lows and the highs of creating, promoting, and selling our own work. Continually sharing and socializing with other people doing the same thing helps you and them. This leads me to your prompt for the week.

The weather is warming up and more events are popping up. Make plans to take part or attend an event in your area of interest. Try to make connections and just enjoy.

My Monday through Friday posts will return regularly at the end of May!

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
