Day #8: Outline Day

Get those pens and keyboards ready! We made it through our first full week of Preptober! Today, we’re going to strengthen what we have. We have our summary, conclusion, and some important points along the way of our story. Now, it’s time to start filling in the rest of the chapters.

When you asked how you’re going to reach your conclusion, the gears of your story started in motion. You have some points but we need still need to get closer to a full story. Serial outliners, you’re going to love today because that’s all we’re going to do all day.

Today, we’re going to work on our outline. We know the point of our story, we have a few surprises planned along the way, and we’ve done our research. It’s time to fill in the rest of the story.

The one step process that you’ve been using for Preptober is the same process you’re going to use for your outline. Ask how you’re going to reach each problem, then solve it? All the chapters in your story should still keep the conclusion in mind.

Your outline isn’t set in stone but it should be as solid. Make a point to write with intention even if you have to change it later. Only outline because the other point of this month is to complete one thing on our list a day. Biteable sizes, not the whole cake.

My posts are Monday through Friday.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
