Day #9: Character Sketches

The fall chill has set in up North and the trees are beginning to lose some of their colorful leaves. The warmth of the sun is still close enough to warm the inside of my car but stepping outside requires a light jacket. The day air has turned into the cooler nights around the fire.

I find the cold weather creates a coziness for writing. Curled up in a blanket, I’m sharing Day #9. Together we will continue to build the pieces of novel by creating character sketches. This means that we write the details of the characters in our story.

I’m not talking about faint lines on a paper that may or may not resemble your characters. Start filling in the details about your character. Think about what makes them who they are. You don’t have get too deep today but you should write down the main points of their personality.

Don’t squeeze your brain too hard. There will be more time to fill in details of your characters. This day is just to help you focus your thoughts on who your characters should be for your story. There will be more come tomorrow as we take 31 days to get ready for next month.

My posts are Monday through Friday.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
