Day #3 At the Cabin

The arrival of the weekend is perfect for writing prompt Day #3 at the cabin. Many of us are watching the clock like we’re at the launch pad of all the rockets this week. We’re ready to leave the city and head to our cabins. Why not use this as an opportunity to write a scene while we’re sitting around the campfire. Open a window and listen to the sounds around the lake.

Okay, a hot, chainsaw carving neighbor might not be possible in real life but the smell of the campfire, sounds of the waves, and the thousands of twinkles in the sky might inspire your next chapter, or final day of Romance Week. Write on at the edge of the dock while the diehard fishermen and women sit for hours trolling back and forth across the lake.

Write about how burnt marshmallows taste between cinnamon sprinkled graham crackers and chocolate. Listen to the sounds of the crackling wood or the hiss of wood that wasn’t quite dry. What would you do on Day #3 with your hunky neighbor? Write or work on a real life scene?

Those who follow my blog know that I’ll probably write a midnight chapter under the stars with the sound of the fire in the background. The image that came to me right away was two people lying in sleeping bags on the dock and talking under the stars. They two heads next to each other on the same pillow as they stare up at the sky.

Do they talk all night, or is this their first kiss? I don’t think they’ll make the stars close their eyes with what they do on the dock. But they will feel the heat radiating out of the bodies as lie close to each other.
