Fall is in full swing and I feel it’s going by in a blur. All the art and craft fair events are keeping my fingers busy and I haven’t had time to sit at my keyboard. Preptober already started and I realize that the commitment to my goal for my artwork doesn’t leave me time to participate this year.
All the hard work is paying off and I’m happy to announce that I made my financial goal from shows early. I used to think the number I wrote down was impossible to reach for any of my ideas but it happened. I’m one of those you see of goal reporting videos for the year!
There is some sacrifice involved, and that is my writing but I knew that would happen. That doesn’t mean that my goal of continuing to publish has gone away, but it does push out the timeline and I’m okay with this.
Over time, I realized that I’m the kind of person that has to put on the blinders and focus on one thing at a time. I had to make a choice at the beginning of this year to focus more on my art and it worked. The good thing about achieving one goal is that it makes the next goal, no matter what it is, seem more possible.
I will shift my focus back to writing when the time is right. To keep my writing skills going, I’m continuing writing prompts, blogging, and smaller pieces. I’m also hoping for quiet moments by the YouTube fireplace, a real cup of something warm, and my blanket wrapped around me while I write with my limited time.
Since today is Friday the 13th and the month of Halloween, I think it’s time for a spooky prompt. Let your fingers take you on a journey into the world where you can switch bodies with your best friend, where a string of bad luck leads to a happy ending, or a dark alley where a stranger with pointy teeth has waited centuries to finally hear your footsteps walk toward him.
Let your imagination unwind and give yourself the freedom to create. Not all things that make your pulse race have to scare the squeaks out of you. Some people think this day is a lucky. Write for 5-10 minutes.
