Local Inspiration

The past few weeks I’ve been on a journey to find inspiration again for my writing. My mind has meandered down different avenues to keep my fingers active and posting meaningful content. The fall season left me feeling like a change was necessary to break up the routine.

As I brainstormed, I thought about finding different places in my own state that are off the beaten track and then writing about them. I’ve also pondered starting mini travel posts at least once a month. Why? Well, I like to document my experiences so that I can use them as content later. I need something in writing to be my memory keeper.

Creating new experiences and doing something I haven’t experienced helps me grow as a writer and artist. For those who follow my blog, I always recommend trying something new and traveling to a new place for writing inspiration. Adding to your list of writing prompts, is always a good idea.

One of the main reasons I’ve shared my writing prompts over the years is because there will be many times when you can’t wait for inspiration to strike. Taking ownership of your own creative process helps prevent things like writer’s block. Sometimes, inspiration needs a nudge.

I guess my next step is to spend the weekend making a new list of writing prompts and possible ideas for new content that still delivers purpose for myself and my readers. Then, it’s all pens down to the page.

I already have my next mini adventure planned this weekend. I’m going to a new little market that I haven’t visited right in my own local area. My goal is to connect to vendors, ask questions, and dream. This may become a place for my husband and I to set-up our own little stand of dreams next year. It’s also to work on a new prompt for traveling within my own city.

Take to your own roads this weekend and support your local community. Then, write about your weekend adventure in a post of your own. I recently shared a new book store stop in downtown Minneapolis. You can do something similar. Think about the way the lifestyle journals or online magazines would post it.

I’ll see you again next week!

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
