I was excited when I woke up Sunday morning because I was up earlier than usual after a late night of making miniatures. Then, my husband reminded me that daylight savings time happened overnight. My mood sunk because I lost an hour while I was getting my beauty sleep.
Despite the lost time I carried on and got into creating my new miniature lunch sets. Pounding down clay with a needle tip to look like lettuce took some practice but I figured out a new process for realistic looking greens. A few more experiments later and I felt like I accomplished something.
Maybe I should stop being so hard on myself after seeing creators on TikTok with trays of creations. Making things by hand takes time because I want it look real. I told myself if I can only make two pieces a day, that’s about 60 pieces at the end of one month.
Think about that number in terms of pages. Did you work on your vocabulary list this past weekend? I did fill up a small yellow piece of papers with ideas. I also keep an idea list in an app on my phone. Taking 5 to 10 minutes a few times a week will help increase your word knowledge or generate ideas for your story.
Since Mondays can feel sluggish, let’s continue and start out the week by taking out that list and filling up the rest of the paper or starting a new piece of paper for this week. Part of the reason I still use a physical piece of paper is to show myself that I can fill up an empty page. You can take this out at any point in time to remind yourself not to be afraid of getting started.
Brainstorm for 5 to 10 minutes today. Some people do this to get their brain active in the morning. I’ve also used this when I’m tired at the end of the day to wake my brain back up. There’s something about ideas and creativity that can renew your energy after a long day.
My posts are Monday to Friday!
