My Unautopiloted Romance

Happy Valentine’s Day to all the readers and writers out there! I don’t know if you’re sitting next to a cup of coffee, wine, or someone warm, but I hope you’re using this day to fill the ink in your pens. Whether you’re alone or with someone there’s plenty of scenarios, excitements, and disasters on a holiday like this.

Hopefully, I don’t get delayed as I try to make my way to a dinner day. I can finally unhide the small gifts I bought for my husband a few weeks ago. There’s a small teddy waiting for him. I thought I would add some sappy romance into today because years of marriage shouldn’t equal no effort. Trying not to slip into too comfortable is all too easy as the years together increase.

Like in my writing, I need to create a prompt for other parts of my life to improve the story. I can’t expect mind blowing romance or sappiness and not give any in return. While we all hope for a wow, whether we admit or not, I just hope for some effort this year. Autopilot is for cars not for humans.

Shake up your writing tonight and make it unexpected. Write in a style you’re not used to but make it romantic. Write for 5-10 minutes. Drink a glass of wine or two before you begin. Then, read it sober tomorrow.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
