The Day After

You know those days when you partied all weekend and have to go in early to work on Monday? We’ll that’s how I feel only I worked all weekend at my table to sell all my handmade creations. Okay, maybe I don’t have the hangover headache but my body feels the lack of sleep. I guess this all part of doing what you want.

My goal this year was to get my handmade creations and my husband’s 3D prints out there to the crowds and test our new ideas. All this work is about making the shift into on outline stores and all the growing pains that go with it. I would say our 2022 started out well as we move into the last few months of the year. Some of our creations worked and some didn’t sell like we thought they would. Audiences have a mind of their own. Some things we just did on a whim became our best sellers at shows, and others we thought would do well heard crickets.

When it comes to design, the rule is the client always picks the design you like the least. It’s the law of creativity. I don’t know why it’s this way but everyone in the art world shares in this experience. This is the same for books. Sometimes fans will have the opposite reaction you intended and you just have to go with it.

Now I have to go rest my tired self and get ready for the next show. Don’t worry, I’m still getting some writing in. That’s all you need for this week. Just try to get in a few words on paper this week.

My posts are Monday through Friday!

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
