Midnight passed last night and my mind decided to wake up again. I wandered down the hallway in the dark thinking about my next show. An image of my books sitting on the corner, waiting to be signed passed through my mind and then new ideas started to form. The next thing I knew, YouTube started playing and I think I found another hobby to add to my collection. Do you remember creating dioramas in shoe boxes when you were in grade school?
Well, I found some amazing artists that reuse and recycle cardboard and other collectibles. Out of Amazon boxes something amazing started to form. Covered wagons found in the old Wild West took shape. One artist created a Winnie the Pooh library. Literary characters and sets filled the screen and books took shape in 3D. This is one of the reasons I always go to other creatives for ideas. They can reimagine a popsicle stick into something living, and breathing.
Artists and writers play off of each other and keep world of imagination running. We have the power to shape new worlds with our words, hands, and eyes. I had to write this post, to help all those writers and artists out there who may be feeling down about their talent. You’re needed and necessary, so keep creating. Push you’re boundaries and stay focused even when you’re feeling down.
They world may weigh down on us but we have the power to write a better one, or bring justice through people who would never call themselves heroes. Get out your pens, keyboards, paint brushes, and old cardboard boxes because the world is calling on us to spark imagination and inspiration of generations. Your words and creations can lift someone else’s day. I hope you use your gift for good – looking at the news we don’t need anymore bad in any world.
