My notebook is covered in dust from going to different outdoor events. This summer is all about art and craft festivals and my 3 week run is finally over. I went out to celebrate at my favorite pastry place before the fall season begins.
Being around other creative people doing the same thing has been uplifting. Starting out with a blank canvas or piece of paper and then creating a masterpiece satisfies the soul in a way that can be life changing. My journey to focus only on my creative work is an ongoing challenge.
The hardest part of changing my main source of income with a small safety net has me going back and forth. I change my mind every day with when I make the final leap. I ease my fears, I’ve been working on some savings to make it through a few months without worrying about any bills.
Yet, I’m still toe dipping. Let’s face it, there’s never going to be an ideal time but that doesn’t mean I can’t stop adulting all together. I need a roof over my head and food in my stomach. Making a major change in my life without any kind of plan, just isn’t something I want to do or think is smart to do. So, I am making some extra savings.
I just need to keep in mind that extra time to focus on my writing and art would speed up my growth and give myself a chance to generate a new kind of income. I’m tired of thinking about my dream job and dream life. Having more than 1 person pass away last month only sped up my need to achieve the life that I dream about. Seeing other people who never got to retire reminds me that time here on earth is short.
When it comes to my writing my muse has kept me up. I can’t leave my stories untold. I’m starting to make my plans for some extra writing time as the season changes up here. This week my prompt is to go dig through my own slush pile to see if I’ve changed my mind on where some plots were going. I just need to get the first draft finished so that I’m closer to being published.
The end of summer reading is going to be my old manuscripts. You can follow the same prompt and review stories collecting dust. Then, it’s time to get into Preptober and NaNoWriMo to reach the finish line.
I’ll be back again next week with another post!
