These past few days felt like I was going slide onto the sidewalk into a pool of sweat in Minnesota. The 90 degree weather made it hard to breathe with the poor air quality and I hid inside. Too bad the melting didn’t stop.
For the past few days I’ve also been creating some new miniature clay designs but the cup holders weren’t as heat resistant as I thought. They melted in my toaster oven and I have warped looking cup holders topped with miniature succulents made out of clay. Luckily, the clay pieces are okay but I’m going to have to make some lemonade magic. I feel some fake moss ideas sprouting.
The thing about art and writing is that we can always make adjustments or changes to what we have. An idea or plot twist we didn’t expect can be added. Partially melted garden cups can look intentional. Sometimes our genius is born out of a mistake. So keep making them.
We don’t grow in the art of writing unless we make mistakes and changes to something that doesn’t quite work. Bob Ross used to say something like, “It’s a happy mistake.” Don’t let the fear of doing something wrong stop you. So, keep up your writing even if you’re on summer mode like me.
My posts are on summer mode and a few times a week.
