Sanctuary

Last night, I put on some new music and one picture stayed in motion on the screen. A woman lying in the breeze on the boat rocked softly on the water while pink flower petals fell from the sky over her. I heard the sound of lapping, gentle waves, and the leaves moving through the trees. I felt the peace of a lazy afternoon.

I wanted to transport myself into the scene on the screen and I started to think about my own space of peace, a place of rest. Then, I realized that I don’t really have a place of sanctuary right now. My space is messy and filled with boxes and I haven’t taken many moments to sit in peace.

You know the moments when you walk in on someone who created that space that spills over in sounds, smells, and sounds that just make you relax when you step inside? That’s what I need.

After my last show of the month ends, I may take some time to remodel some of the spaces inside my home so I can have more that lazy afternoon feeling instead of a bunch of clutter. This might take a while considering what I do have piled up from events. May a my circle of peace return.

Do you have a place that you can rest and sit quietly in? A place that brings you peace? This is your prompt for today. Clear up one corner of cutter. Spend 5-10 minutes on the task. Write afterward if you want. The point is to limit the task into smaller bites and still have enough time to write.

My Monday through Friday posts will return regularly at the end of May!

I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.

  1. My space of relaxation is my rolltop desk and my CD player. I put on my headphones and slip into my secret place. It is located in the middle of the activity of the house, but it is my space where I block everything out of my mind. Thank you for sharing.
