“Writing is a process of questions.” Glen Gers
The middle of the week is here and I’m wondering how everyone is doing with their writing? As we get busy with our lives, sitting down in our seat for a few minutes can feel like a chore. When that happens, I always go back to the feeling I have after I sat down anyway.
Accomplishing 5 minutes of something can lift your mood the rest of the week and you might be surprised at how this feeling can keep you moving forward to do it over and over again. Remember, if you’re struggling to sit down but think about writing often then the story is still inside.
After doing my own homework from yesterday and taking notes on the writing process. I added a new quote to my list. When I struggle with the storyline, I can tell myself this quote, “Writing is a process of questions.” If I’m stuck I should just ask a question.
The interview by Film Courage may help you with your writing and you can find the interview with Glen Gers, an Emmy Award winning writer, at https://youtu.be/uL0atQFZzL8. Many of his techniques to get out the story spoke to me. His point about how it’s better to just try to write out the story and just see how it goes, is what my prompts are about this week.
Exploring your own writing is about not being afraid of what’s on the page, and just trying to work it out. Not to mention that it doesn’t do anybody any good if it’s not written out. I don’t have telepathic abilities that entertain me.
Today, our prompt is going to follow Glen’s advice. Write out 6 questions to your story, then spend time answering them. This might fill in some gaps in your chapters or outlines.
My posts are Monday to Friday!
