This week I started watching a new KDrama (Korean Drama) called “Navillera”. The series is about an old 70 year old grandpa who never fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming a ballet dancer. His friends are passing away and old dreams stir within him. He begins his journey back to unfulfilled dreams and living his life the way he wanted. He asks the question is it ever too late?
I’m only in the beginning of the new series on Netflix and awaiting more episodes to be released but the story is inspiring, funny, endearing, and inspiring. Many of us get caught up in life and are so busy that we forget to ask if we’re really living. Ideas of the word vary but when the last time you truly felt inspired or inspired someone else? When was the last time you really helped someone else?
Writers, I know the process of completing a novel can be isolating but remember the real world is out there. We have the opportunity to share stories that change worlds. Someone who reads your words could have that moment that helps them pivot or feel motivated enough to take action on their own life dreams.
Today, I would like you to use your words to make someone smile from the heart, laugh, or hand them a tissue when they cry. Remember, we can write for ourselves and live fulfilling our own dream but think what would happen if we helped someone reach their own goal in life. Be the hero of your novels because we more of them in real life. And let the hero, the underdog, the unpopular one live and win once in a while in your stories so that your reader can feel lifted when the world around them seems to be falling apart.
My last point is to think about having main characters that vary in age because even grandparents have dreams and wishes. When was the last time you asked your grandma what wish she would like to fulfill today when you’re together? It’s never too late. Give your parents, grand parents, or other older than you a “Yes day!”
May you have a fulfilled day! Follow as I post on my progress throughout the month and share the experience.
