Are you in need of a prompt today because you need some kind of focus? Since I quit my 9-5 I’ve been bouncing all over the place to clean, organize, and fit in a few new creations. I didn’t work crazy into workaholic mode because that was the point of quitting my 9-5.
I want to create but I don’t want to have another situation where I’m stress out and feeling burn out mode. I’ve received advice from other full time artists and writers to remember not to volunteer myself too much at other places. I am excited for the flexibility of schedule but I need to find activities that engage me in actually making new work, like a workshop where I’ll have some writing or art completed at the end of the session.
My first week at home has included a new video series, which takes more time and patience than I planned. I’m trying the new DJI II Osmo camera that fits in the pocket and I’ve learned that I’m not that patient when it comes to learning new technology. I’ve managed to stick with it and keep playing with the small camera. I just hope it gets easier.
This journey continued with rearranging a few spaces, making use of my new photo set for video and product sets. I’ve also invested in a few new materials to try. I think I might use those materials to start a new children’s book. I have to see where this leads.
Before I get into our prompt for the day, I wanted to share the tool I use for creating social media posts. I use Canva.com, and I did invest in the Pro license for about $129 a year. There is a free option if you’re on a budget and I used that for a few years before I upgraded to get access to more tools, photos, etc. I also wanted to receive the ability to use licensed work.
This week I played with Canva.com’s AI generating tool, that’s a work in progress. I told it to create an image with a cat writing. I thought this would be more fun for a prompt. The video is only 5 seconds but you can extend the length.
Today’s prompt is to look at the reference at the bottom of the post and put pen to paper for 5 minutes. Write as if you are the cat in the picture. Write what you think the cat is writing. Just write.
