Beating the Writing Blues

Creativity breeds more creativity.  This is the reason we need to get out of our slump and reawaken our brains.   We all need time to rest but we all know when it’s not normal.  It’s not that your lazy.  Something‘s just not right.  Do we treat ourselves like the stock market and if we’re down more than 2 quarters in a row, we in a recession?  Maybe we need to call it a recession not a depression.   However, if the slump persists and you can’t get yourself out then do get professional help.

The worst thing we can do as humans is give up and stop.  We’re all here for a reason and many of us ware walking around not knowing we can affect someone’s day.  We can change the world with a smile, a hug, and the right kind of encouragement.  These are free and we forget about them as we busy ourselves.

I’ve been through the whole gambit.  Ups, downs, down too long, back up, through really stressful times, and through really joyful times.   When something brings me down, I’ve learned to change my focus and it’s not always easy.   Sometimes, I’ve had to ask for help.  And that’s okay.  Better to get help than lose our beautiful selves.  And remember, we’re all waiting to read each other’s words.  I’m an author waiting to read and listen to your books.

You could be the one person that smiles at a stranger and changes their day.  That shift of mind or refocus could lead to a better week.  It might spark the idea that changes our lives.

Okay, I get it.  Some of us might not be having a great day.  We don’t know what other people are going through, so do your best to move forward.  Refocus.  Learning how to do this one day at a time is all part of my writing rehab or 30 day writing exercises and challenges.  Breaking our problems and goals into bite size days is easier than looking at the whole year.   Give it a try when you start to feel off your game.  One moment will lead to the next.

Just promise me that you’ll never give up hope on yourself and your writing. I made this post for those of you who may feel down today.

Follow as I post on my progress throughout the month and share the experience.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
