Look out 2021! A New Year is here and my first MasterClass Online finished last week. Following the advice of David Mamet, it’s time to just write. Reviewing last year, 30 day challenges was a success when it comes back to writing. Different exercises in flash fiction and 30 days of writing topics in October all lead to one step closer to getting back on track.
My writing derailed for a few years after I finished illustrating and publishing a few Children’s books. Not to mention helping two other people get their own books self-published. Those who are looking to get published need to hold onto their steam. It’s a continual process that involves writing author bios, cover summaries, approving covers, and self promoting.
I’m not going to lie. The end of the process can push your limits but it’s the reason why we all write. Expect back and forth on editing, finalizations, and PR. All those steps can be daunting. We spend all the time putting our blood, sweat, and tears into our story and then we find out there’s another mountain at the end when you’re ready to publish.
I’ve been through the steps and that’s why I help other authors. In fact, I recently had to help someone else get an ISBN number because they self publish their books on multiple platforms. In other words, if you want to publish your book outside of Amazon, you need an ISBN number. And you need separate ones for print and ebooks. You can find out more in my resources page if you need more information.
Enough of the my tangents. My only focus this month is getting more chapters completed in my fantasy novel set in Minnesota. My past few attempts up my word count fell short. No more excuses. It’s time to just write!
Follow as I post on my progress throughout the month and share the experience.
