January Writing Challenge Day #8

January Writing Challenge Day #8

The monthly challenge continues and Tuesday night was productive and I’ve moved into a new chapter. One thing I need to work on as a writer, is stopping myself from continually starting over.

In the past, I’ve reached 1,000 pages and then pitched the whole script. My struggle is coming up with too many introductions. There are a million ways to start a novel, I don’t need to find all of them.

My exercises on raw and rough writing acceptance this past year have helped. Reviewing my changes, it’s not that constant restart created a better story. Yes, there’s editing to write a better story but it shouldn’t become the never ending story of endless first chapters.

Maybe there’s a group out there for serial re-writers. I know there’s help out there for serial outliners who never finish their novel. Never fear, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. At least I know that I can publish a book. Despite my habit, I’ve managed to publish 5 books and help two other authors publish their 3 books.

Let’s hope the click of the keyboard continues through the rest of the week. I’m actually looking forward to our next Minnesota snow storm. Staying indoors is an excuse to keep doing one thing I love – write.

Follow as I post on my progress throughout the month and share the experience.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
