Writing in the New Year

The year is coming to an end and I finally have the breather I’ve been waiting on. In the quiet aftermath of the holidays, I’m taking up the pages again. Ringing in the new year will be filled with turning pages, typing, writing research, and audio books.

I would rather have words spilling out of my champagne glass at the strike of midnight, than bubbly liquid that always gives me a headache. I’m not reviving Ophelia but I am trying to revive my writing. I feel like I’ve been on hiatus since I quite my 9-5 this year and dove into my art. The intention was to have enough time to write some more books but I pushed myself to create new pieces of art instead of getting more words on the pages.

It’s time to balance out all those hours that occupied my fingers. I’m waking my writing muses so that I can work on the new children’s book idea about a station cat who helps lost humans. Then, there is a novel for adults but I might need my own station cat to help me because I feel lost in the story. I don’t know how many prompts it will take but I need to find a way to end my never ending book. I need to listen to my own advice and stop trying to create the epic story and just get words on paper. Brilliance takes time and practice.

I wish everyone the inspiration to write as we move into a new year! I also hope the force of dead and living writers rallies behind me so that I can finally hit the publish button again.

I’m an author in Minnesota who started out writing and illustrating Children’s books. I’ve published poetry and adult Romance Novels. I created my website and social media to reach out to other writers because the process can be lonely. I wanted to reach out to readers, writers, and those with a dream of finishing “that” novel. I share the advice of other writers and the tools I use to create my stories.
